Senbondori Street and Marutamachi Street’s crossing, where Kuraya Jyurakudai is located, is where it is said to be that Ancient Kyoto’s Daigokuden, an office building for Japanese Emperor was placed. A monument in memory of this building was built and can still be seen at Uchino Children’s Park, located just north of Kuraya Jurakudai.
This Machiya, traditional style wooden town house was built in 1909, and its second floor’s soil walls are made up of “Takekomai (base of the soil walls made up of bamboos)”, “Arakabe (rough coat)” and “Nakanurikabe (middle coat)”. The soil walls intentionally designed to present its structure, to show how traditional soil walls are made. Please enjoy your stay at this modern yet traditional Machiya.

千本丸太町の交差点にある「りそな銀行」の裏側に「藏や聚楽第北・聚楽第南」はあります。交差点すぐそばで右折が難しいため、千本丸太町の交差点を西へ進み、1つ目の信号を右折して頂きますと、裏の道から宿の前まで行けます。
※「藏や聚楽第北」と「藏や聚楽第南」が隣同士で建っています。お間違えないようお気を付けください。

3 mins from Senbonmarutamachi bus stop. Walk toward in the opposite direction of the bus and turn right. (You don't need to walk across the intersection.) Go into the side street of りそな銀行(Resona Bank, Limited) and you'll see Kuraya Jyurakudai North・Jyurakudai South on your left.

※ Please note※Kuraya Jyurakudai North and Kuraya Jyurakudai South is built next to each other. Please make sure to check the signboard and go into the house.

From NIjo St(East exit), walk 700m for south and go accross the Senbon Marutamachi intersection to South (りそな銀行 is a Mark)Go into the side street of りそな銀行(Resona Bank, Limited) and you'll see Kuraya Jyurakudai North・Jyurakudai South on your left.
